World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to increase the gear score of an item up to 700 and add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For instance an excellently rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't change much after an upgrade, and aren't worth the cost.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats, such as crit chance, attack damage PvE and PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. A lot of weapons also have a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a single unit. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon can sustain on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For item upgrade , a +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue rise until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is usually beneficial but it can also have negative effects as well. For items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them could render them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to improve their stats. This can increase the defense base of a helm or chest while belts and gloves will boost their required strength and agility. Armor also has a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it may roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain when upgrading, as well as the values of these stats. This means that an upgrade from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in the weapon gaining 33% attack damage. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will hit for 3 times less often as it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button on the item menu using the arrows that are circling. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats but it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive increases in poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, making the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. The more defense your character has the more value you will get from every point of health you have, so it's important to upgrade your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four in total and each one requires you to complete a specific side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and completed the fountain in question you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor is different. You'll need anywhere from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for instance, can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which allows you to remain competitive in frigid environments with a lot of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense to ensure you're able to withstand a rout with your friends.
You can't upgrade armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or spell power. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear for the final boss battle as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. Generally speaking, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have some upgrades of the chest armor and helmets to allow you to stealth around certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, give the player with a temporary effect. There are five kinds of potions, each with a specific set of effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, increasing their level of effect. In addition, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to the potions.
Upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a crafting table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion as well as the item's Rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI that lets you select the potions that you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll give you when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP level.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change its name.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few modifications to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions for instance are now available with a time of zero, not the 22.5 seconds displayed on the item hover display. The table of potion can now be made using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players playing Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. Also, putting a potion on a full cauldron drains the contents and replenishes the bottle.
In addition, there are simmering potions that are made with dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion effect can be extended by adding redstone. The table of potion ingredients has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, like the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece of jewelry. It can be a reference to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose but isn't particularly significant, such as a tiny thimble. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to signify affection or friendship, particularly between family members.
Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons and armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. In contrast to other upgrades for items trinkets, trinkets can be exchanged at will without losing their stats.
The upgrade vendors are found in major cities and the capital of each zone, as well as in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
The upgrade of a trinket can be an economical alternative to buying new ones. You can upgrade a trinket with just 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same level of base as the old trinket, but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Once the old Trinkets have become no longer usable, they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase both their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players, making them an attractive alternative to gold.
In general players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondaries and then other gear items that they will not be replacing in the near future (for instance rings or cloaks). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when choosing which items to upgrade. For example If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tankers, they should prioritize upgrading their helm, chest, shoulders, and belt.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level once they're no longer needed and the new trinket can be upgraded to have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. A re-upgrade, however, can cause damage to the trinket unless it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than buying new ones.
